    Contemporary Ensemble

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Daniel Salazar, whose interpretations of the Spanish classical guitar repertoire have been praised throughout the US, Mexico, Spain and Europe, marks a new phase in his career with this new project. In his continued effort to expand the guitar's repertoire, and influenced by various musical forms, including traditional and popular Latin American music, Spanish flamenco and even American Rock, Daniel has developed a new musical style that features the classical guitar combined with an ensemble of guitars, bass, keyboards, Latin percussion and orchestral instruments. The result is an exciting, original contemporary sound featuring virtuostic and passionate guitar playing.

The ensemble's repertoire includes original compositions featured on the Compact Discs "Mosaico" and"Daniel Salazar", as well as thrilling new arrangements of Latin selections and guitar classics such as "Leyenda" and other exciting works. The group is available for concerts, music festivals and other performances.


    Repertoire With Orchestra

For the 2003-2004 season, Daniel Salazar will be presenting a unique program featuring Spanish and Latin American classics especially arranged for guitar and orchestra. The music is full of exciting rhythms, colorful harmonies, and beautiful melodies. It is perfectly suited for Pops series, outdoor summer concerts, or programs with a Latin/Spanish theme. The performance may also include Flamenco or Tango choreography.

All the music has been professionally arranged and orchestrated by Daniel Salazar and California composer/arranger Beth Ertz, who has worked with artists such as Elmer Bernstein, Barbara Streisand, Placido Domingo, The Boston Pops and many others.

Performance package includes conductor's scores and instrumental parts. Sample audio recordings are available upon request.

This exciting piece features fast paced Spanish dance rhythms and castanets. Always an audience favorite!

LA CUMPARSITA (tango) G.M. Rodriguez (Argentina)
Probably the most widely recognized of all Argentinean tangos, this piece features syncopated rhythms, a sensuous violin solo and guitar fireworks!

TISÚ J.C. Oliva (Mexico)
Named after a type of silk cloth embroidered with golden threads, this lyrical piece features a beautiful melody inspired by flower pedals floating on a lake.

ADAGIO (from Concierto de Aranjuez) J. Rodrigo (Spain)
The slow movement from the most popular of all guitar concertos, Adagio features one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. This piece is presented in its original version.
